When you have a track ready to export we, first of all, ask you not to master the track prior to doing so. The reason why we ask you not to master your production is that we use a limiter in the application to glue the subsequent vocals and track them together. In other words, the final “mastering” is done within the application.
The headroom of the track should be around -3dBFS to -6dBFS, as that is the required headroom in order for us to add the vocals to the track without having to compensate for the dynamics of the mix. In essence, this is the headroom we need in order to add the vocals to the track without risking the dynamics of the mix.
You should NOT use normalization on your stems, as this changes the volume of the stems; however, you may use normalization when you bounce your master wav and mp3.
In case you have parts of a stem that contain no sound, you can choose whether to bounce them or not. It’s not necessary, but we advise you to make sure the parts do not contain sound prior to excluding them.
